Read your K-Electric digital or analog meter correctly and submit a self-reading via KE Live before the next billing cycle.

How to read your K-Electric meter

  1. Locate your meter (single-phase or three-phase) on the outside wall or shared utility box.
  2. Note the kWh reading — the 5- or 6-digit number on the LCD or mechanical dials.
  3. Ignore decimals — only whole units count for billing.
  4. For smart/AMI meters, scroll using the push button until you see "kWh Tot" or "Active Energy".

Submit a self-reading via WhatsApp

  1. Save 0348-0000118 as "KE WhatsApp" in your phone.
  2. Send "Hi" → choose Meter Reading from the menu.
  3. Type your 13-digit account number when prompted.
  4. Upload a clear photo of the meter showing the units and the meter serial.
  5. KE verifies and credits your account within 24–48 hours.

Fixing an estimated or overbilled KE bill

An "E" beside the reading on your duplicate bill means it's estimated. Take a meter photo today, submit it via WhatsApp or the KE Live app, then call 118 to request a revised bill. Adjustments appear as a credit/debit line on the next bill.

Frequently asked questions

How do I submit my own KE meter reading?+

Open WhatsApp 0348-0000118 → type 'Meter Reading' → send a clear photo of your meter display with the account number visible. KE staff verify within 24–48 hours.

Why is my KE bill marked 'Estimated'?+

If the meter reader couldn't access your meter on the scheduled date, KE bills you on a 6-month average. The next actual reading is reconciled with an adjustment line item.

Can I get my estimated KE bill corrected?+

Yes. Take a dated photo of your meter showing the current units, then file a complaint via the KE Live app, WhatsApp 0348-0000118, helpline 118, or any IBC. KE issues a revised bill within 7–10 days.

How often does KE read my meter?+

K-Electric reads every meter once a month on a fixed cycle date. For AMI/smart meters, reading is automatic and remote.

What is the difference between current and previous reading on my bill?+

Current reading is today's meter value; previous is last month's. The difference is your monthly consumption in kWh (units) used to calculate the slab-wise tariff.
