KE Duplicate Bill — Frequently Asked Questions

Fact-checked answers to the most common K-Electric billing, tariff, peak-hour and complaint questions — written and reviewed by our editorial team.

How do I check my KE duplicate bill online?+

Enter your 13-digit K-Electric account or reference number on the KE Duplicate Bill homepage and tap 'View Bill Online'. The latest official K-Electric PDF loads on the same page within seconds — no redirect, no signup, no fee.

Where is my K-Electric account number printed?+

It's the 13-digit number at the very top of any previous KE bill, usually starting with 04. It also appears on your meter installation receipt, on the demand notice for a new connection, and inside the K-Electric Live mobile app under 'My Account'.

What's the difference between account and reference number?+

The account number is permanent and identifies your physical connection for life. The reference number is unique to a specific bill cycle and changes every month. Both retrieve the latest bill on KE Duplicate Bill — the account number is preferred because it never expires.

What are K-Electric peak hours in 2026?+

Peak hours are 6:30 PM – 10:30 PM in summer (April–October) and 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM in winter (November–March). Time-of-Use consumers pay a 40–60% higher per-unit rate during this 4-hour window, weekends and public holidays included.

How much does 1 unit of electricity cost in Karachi?+

Domestic A-1 rates range from Rs. 13.48 per unit on the lifeline slab (1–100 units) up to Rs. 42.72 per unit on the unprotected slab above 700 units. FPA and 17% GST are added on top. Commercial A-2 rates are higher and include fixed charges. NEPRA revises rates quarterly — always cross-check the per-unit figure on your latest bill.

How do I pay my K-Electric bill?+

K-Electric bills can be paid via mobile banking (HBL, UBL, Meezan, MCB and most others), JazzCash and EasyPaisa wallets, 1Link member banks, ATMs of 1Link banks, K-Electric Customer Care Centres, authorised utility-payment counters, and online through the KE Live app. The duplicate bill PDF downloaded here is accepted across every channel.

What happens if I don't pay my KE bill on time?+

A Late Payment Surcharge of about 10% is added on the energy charges after the due date. Continued non-payment for two cycles triggers a written disconnection notice, and supply is cut on day 7 after that notice. Reconnection requires payment of the full overdue amount, the LPS, and a reconnection fee (Rs. 500–2,500).

Can I get a duplicate bill for an old month or last year?+

K-Electric's public portal generally exposes only the latest issued bill. Our lookup automatically checks the most recent 8 billing cycles. For older archived bills, visit a KE Customer Care Centre with your CNIC, or file a written request through customer.care@ke.com.pk. Archived statements are usually issued within 7–10 working days.

How do I file a K-Electric complaint?+

Call 118 (24/7), SMS your 13-digit account number to 8119, email customer.care@ke.com.pk, or visit your nearest Integrated Business Centre (IBC) office. Save the complaint reference number for follow-ups. If unresolved within 15 working days, escalate to NEPRA at complaints.nepra.org.pk.

How can I reduce my K-Electric bill legally?+

The five highest-impact moves are: (1) stay at or below 200 units a month for 6 consecutive months with sanctioned load under 5 kW to keep protected-consumer status, (2) shift heavy loads outside the 4-hour evening peak window if you have a ToU meter, (3) switch all bulbs to LEDs, (4) set AC thermostats at 26°C and pair with ceiling fans, (5) switch off geysers, water motors and standby electronics when not in use.

Is KE Duplicate Bill affiliated with K-Electric?+

No. KE Duplicate Bill (keduplicatebill.pk) is an independent consumer information resource. We help users retrieve their official K-Electric bills and understand K-Electric billing in plain language, but we are not owned by, partnered with, or endorsed by K-Electric Limited.

Is it safe to enter my account number on this website?+

Yes. We do not store, log or share your account number. It is held in memory only for the few seconds required to request your bill from K-Electric's official infrastructure, and then discarded. No authentication, no signup, no tracking cookies tied to your account.

Why is my KE bill higher this month than last month?+

The four common causes, in order: (1) FPA was revised upward by NEPRA, (2) you crossed into a higher slab (especially 200→201 or 700→701 units), (3) summer AC load increased actual consumption, (4) Quarterly Tariff Adjustment was applied this cycle. Compare unit counts and FPA between the two bills before assuming a billing error.

What is FPA on my K-Electric bill?+

Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) is a monthly per-unit add-on reflecting the difference between projected and actual fuel cost used to generate electricity two months earlier. When global oil, gas and LNG prices rise, FPA goes up; when they fall, FPA can become negative and reduce your bill.

Can I apply for a new K-Electric connection online?+

Yes. New domestic, commercial and industrial connection applications are accepted through the KE Live app and the official ke.com.pk new-connection portal. You will need CNIC, property document, site map and the application fee. Site survey, demand notice and meter installation typically take 30–90 days.

How does net metering work with K-Electric?+

K-Electric net metering allows solar rooftop owners to export surplus units to the grid and offset them against imported units at the same time-of-use rate that applies when the export happens. Application is made through KE's net-metering portal after AEDB licensing; the bi-directional meter and inverter must be NEPRA-approved.

What is a detection bill from K-Electric?+

A detection bill is an additional charge added when K-Electric inspects a meter and concludes consumption was under-recorded (tampering, slow meter or by-pass). You have the right to a hearing before the bill is added — do not pay until the detection report is shared and the hearing concluded. Detection disputes can be escalated to NEPRA.

Does K-Electric offer instalments on large bills?+

Yes. For genuine hardship cases, IBC managers can authorise 3–6 month instalment plans on a written application supported by CNIC and proof of income. Apply at the IBC office; the request is decided within 7 working days.
